there is a possible way for people without line of sight to connect to the mesh if we can get hold of the new 44 Mbit wireless standard equipment and set up a link to the existing 11 Mbit network as it uses a lower frequency and doesnt react so highly with the water in the trees which is a problem with the 2.4 Ghz frequency if anyone has any more information or prices on 44 Mbit equipment please let me know heres part of what i read ( there are cheaper alternatives to this setup ) Cisco uBR-MCS-PDA — Wireless Modem Card Key Features and Benefits Highlights Enables wireless non-line-of-sight connectivity Delivers up to 44 Mbps full-duplex throughput full information full information at www.cisco.com/univercd/cc/td/doc/pcat/ubms.htm

It runs at around 420MHz, how would this be usable - legally? IFAIK, only 900, 2.4 and 5.6 where the only bits of the spectrum one could use without a license. Other than this, it would be a great way to get connectivity but i doubt it is going to be cheap.

the cisco wireless spec says its centered on 324MHz which without checking, sounds like a military band here.
